Summer Band Camp Starts Tomorrow, 7/27

Parents and Students,

We hope that you have had an enjoyable summer with you families and friends. We have certainly had a restful one here on campus.

This information was given out in May, however you may find this informative and useful. There have been a few changes since then. It is essential that all students attend summer camp, as we will learn about half of our show during this time.

Who: All members of the RHS Band

What: July/August Band Camp

When: July 27th and 28th
(Visual Camp; No music, just marching in the mornings. All Band/VE members are required to attend)

Summer Camp July 31st through August 18th
(Monday-Friday each week)

Where: RHS


What do I bring?
Bring your instrument, a large water container, a lyre, a flip folder, and a personal tuner if
you own one. School-owned instrument students must have their own mouthpiece and neck strap.

What should I wear?
Athletic shoes, shorts, light colored t-shirt, sunglasses, cap, bug spray and sunscreen (SUNSCREEN IS VERY IMPORTANT).

Does it cost $?
All costs associated with the camp are included in your band fees or provided by the booster club (RABB)

What about food?

All food is the responsibility of the families. Some families send food with their child to the school (Students are welcome to eat outside the band hall area). Some families pick up there child and take them to lunch or dinner.
There are also several fast food restaurants in the area that are easily accessible.

What will the students work on? The students learn the majority of their marching production for the 2017 season. They will also work on music associated with football games (Alma Mater, Fight Song, Stand Tunes,etc) and their All-Region music.

Note: There will be one sectional for each wind section during the
third week to start the students on their region music. Please see the calendar at for details. The region music sectional schedule is a work in progress and should be finalized in a few days.

Final Camp Day Schedule, August 18th

7am-11:00am — Rehearsal
1pm-3pm– Rehearsal/Camp Clean Up
5pm– Student Eat Dinner
6pm– Warm Up (Parents Eat Dinner)
7pm– Performance at RHS

Camp Performance and

We would like to invite and encourage all families to participate in the camp dinner on the 19th of August. The parent dinner begins at 6pm in the RHScafeteria and will be followed by a performance at 7pm.

During the dinner you will meet the families of all the students in your child’s section, have the opportunity to volunteer and ask questions. Please join us for this fun dinner and event. Thank you for your time. We hope that everyone had a safe and enjoyable summer.
